Freshmen and Sophomores from Stoughton High Boys’ Indoor Track Team Take Part in Underclassman Meet

The meet for ninth and tenth graders was held Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The younger members of the boys’ indoor track team took part in the Auerbach Freshman Sophomore meet held at the Reggie Lewis Center this past Saturday.

Sophomore Malachi Baugh led the way for Stoughton, finishing seventh overall in the 55-meter dash, narrowly missing out on a medal, boys’ coach Harvey Blonder said.

A number of other athletes recorded personal bests.

David Lockhart recorded a personal best in both the 1000-meter and the 400-meter events; Zach Gibb set a personal best in the 300-meter; Kevin Lucas and Garrett McCormick recorded personal bests in the shot put; Tim Tullis and Antonio Irons had personal bests in the 600-meter; and Lennox Green had a personal best in the 55-meter dash.

Jonathan Oliviera just missed cracking the 6-minute barrier in the mile for the first time by one second.

Alec DeNapoli, John Eppenstein, David Wilson and Tevin Afonseca all narrowly missed personal bests. Jason Marshall ran the hurdles, competed in the high jump, and ran in a relay. Kirby Impoinvil also ran the relay.

Blonder said the meet featured more than 1,800 athletes from large schools throughout Massachusetts.
