Former Black Knights track star Jade Paul, a 2012 graduate of Stoughton High, is already making her mark on the Boston University women's track and field team in her freshman season.
Paul finished in sixth place in the 500-meter dash at the New England Championships, held Feb. 22-23 at BU.
She recorded a personal best in the preliminaries, finishing in 1:14.45, which was third in her heat. In the finals, Paul finished in 1:15.32, which was sixth overall.
Paul has qualified for this weekend's ECAC Championships, which will also be held at BU.
According to the BU athletics website, Paul "made her collegiate debut in the 500-meter dash (1:17.61) and as a member of the 4x400-meter relay team (3:54.82) at the Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 2."
As a senior at Stoughton High, Paul was a Hockomock League All-Star and set a school record in the 600-meter event during the winter indoor track season (1:35.95). She finished second in the 600-meter event at last winter’s Hockomock championships, second in the same event at the D2 championships and sixth in the event at the all-state meet before finishing 10th at last year's high school New England Championships.
