But Morrisette put up 3 runs in the 4th off of Kane on two doubles sandwiched around a pair of walks to take a 5-1 lead.

The second double which knocked in 2 runs, fell just out of the reach of a sprawling Jovani Pires in center field who came within inches of an inning-ending diving catch.

Mike Gallagher tripled home a run in the 5th inning for Stoughton after Jovani Pires had walked, but Gallagher was left stranded on third base.

On the night Stoughton stranded 7 runners over the first five innings, leaving 4 of them in scoring position.

"Though we left a few men in scoring position, we hit the ball hard in those situations and they just didn't find holes tonight," said Post 89 Manager Jim Derochea.

Coach Kevin Gilbert added, "Had one or two of those hard hit balls fallen in, it's a different game."

Stoughton falls to 5-15 and looks to snap a three-game losing streak Thursday at Jamaica Plain, a team Stoughton is 2-0 against this season. The season then concludes Friday back in Stoughton with a game against Cohasset.
