Boys' Track Downs Sharon For First Win of Season

The Black Knights defeated Sharon 47-39 last Saturday. On Sunday, at the Reggie Lewis Center, Greg Boursiquot continued his domination in the high hurdles event.

The Stoughton boys’ came into last Saturday’s meet against Sharon looking for their first win of the season. Both teams were closely matched and the exciting meet came down to the relay. 

Stoughton's relay team of Eric McPherson, Pat Jackman, Paul Solem and Marlon Crome proved up to the task, and as a result the Black Knights defeated Sharon 47-39.

McPherson ran a strong opening leg, handing first year teammate Jackman about a 5 meter lead. Jackman followed with a personal best in his leg and held the lead. Solem, a captain, faced a strong challenge when Sharon's runner pulled even, but he fought him off and Crome, a fellow captain, held on to seal the victory.

Other key Contributors were Brandon Alves who won the shot put (44' 7.5"- a 2 ft personal best); Greg Boursiquot with a win in the 50 yard hurdles (6.2); and Crome with a win in the mile (5:05) and a tie with teammate Alex Lorius in the high jump (5'6).

Nick Green was unchallenged by Sharon in the 2 mile run and won easily (10:53). Other key points were added by the second place finishes of Riordan Hoffman in the shot put, Jackman in the dash, Boursiquot in the 300 and Solem in the 1000.

Last Sunday at the elite meet at the Reggie Lewis Center, Greg Boursiquot once again took on all comers and won the high hurdles. Greg's time of 7.53 ties him for the best in New England so far this season and ranks 12th in the nation. Last year Greg was undefeated in New England in the high hurdles and so far this year he has accomplished the same.
