Boursiquot Leads Boys' Indoor Track at Hockomock League Championships

Stoughton finishes 7th out of 10 teams, including third out of five in the Davenport Division at Saturday's League Championship meet.

Led by Greg Boursiquot, the Stoughton High boys’ track team finished in seventh place at the Hockomock League Indoor Track Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center this past Saturday.

The Black Knights finished right in the middle of the Davenport Division (small schools) and ahead of one school (King Philip) in the Kelly Rex Division (large schools) with 17 points.

Greg Boursiquot responded to his strongest challenge this season in the high hurdles with a season best (7.51 seconds) and lowered his own league record. He continues to hold the best mark in New England.

Boursiquot also set a personal best in the high jump (6'0).

Brandon Alves threw a huge personal best in the shot put (45 feet, 11.5 inches) for the second meet in a row and took third in the league.

Nick Green picked up sixth place in the 2-mile event (10:31), beating several better-known runners in the league.

Senior captain Marlon Crome qualified for the state meet in the high jump (5'10") and set a personal best in the mile (4:52).

Patrick Claude qualified in the long jump (19 feet, 4.75 inches) and set a best in the 55-meter high hurdles (9.15).

Other personal bests were: senior captain Paul Solem (1000 meter - 2:50); Pat Jackman (55 meter - 7.08 seconds); Eric McPherson (40.61 seconds) and Lennox Green (42.27 seconds) in the 300 meter event; Sheldon Oliveira (1:39) and Alec Woolf (1:52) in the 600 meter event; Mark Phan in the 1000 meter (3:15); Wayne Barnaby in the mile (5:40); and Alex Lorius (8.78 seconds) in the 55 meter high hurdles.

“From a coach's viewpoint it was gratifying to see so many good performances at the biggest meet for most of the team,” coach Harvey Blonder wrote in an email.
