Boursiquot, Jackson Lead Stoughton Boys' Track; Paul Paces Girls' in Respective Losses to OA

Oliver Ames beat both the Stoughton boys' and girls' track team Tuesday at Stoughton. One second was the difference in the Stoughton-OA boys' meet.

Girls’ track standout Jade Paul continued a strong start to her spring outdoor season Tuesday against Oliver Ames, winning the 800-meter run in 2 minutes, 18.4 seconds, good for the best recorded time in the state, according to her coach, Bob Clarke.

Paul, a junior, also has the best time in the state in the 400-meter dash this season at 58.94 seconds.

Overall, the girls’ team fell to the Tigers 91-45, but had several notable individual performances. They are now 1-2 on the season.

Other winners included Lauren Pinchieri in the 400-meter hurdles event. Her time of 72.8 seconds qualifies her for the state meet, Clarke said. Ifeoma Okeke won the 100-yard dash in 13.2 seconds, while Shabre Davis won the 400-meter dash in 65.9 seconds.

The 4 x 400-meter relay team qualified for states with a time of 4:27.3.

On the boys’ side, “one second may make the difference in the Davenport Division of the Hockomock League for boys’ track,” coach Harvey Blonder said.

Oliver Ames won both relay events (the 4 x100-meter and the 4 x 400-meter) Tuesday to defeat Stoughton 72-64.

The Tigers edged the Black Knights in the 4 x 100 relay by 0.8 seconds. A victory in this event would have given Stoughton the win, a 3-0 record and a step up toward the divisional championship.

Instead Stoughton falls to 2-1, while Oliver Ames improves to 3-1.

Junior Steffan Jackson and senior Greg Boursiquot paced Stoughton, winning three events apiece.

Jackson won the 400-meter hurdles event in 59.5 seconds, the high jump (5'8”) and the triple jump (40' 1/4"). Meanwhile, Boursiquot won the 100-meter dash in 11.2 seconds, the 110-meter high hurdles in 14.4 seconds and the long jump (20'1”).

Jackson also added a second place in the 110-meter high hurdles.

Other winners included Brandon Alves in the shot put (43'9”) and Jordan Ricci in the disc (102').

Marlon Crome finished second in both the 800-meter race (2:11.7) and the high jump (5'6”) and came in third in the triple jump (39'8 1/2"). Riordan Hoffman finished second in the disc (97'8”), Fouad Njeim was second in the shot put (40'11”) and Nick Green was second in the 2-mile run (10:51).

Third place finishers included Ricci in the 400-meter hurdles (63.0), Malachi Baugh in the 400-meter dash (54.1), Alex Lorius (5'6”) in the high jump, Marcus Middleton (11.6) in the 100-meter dash and Aaron Mack (24.1) in the 200-meter dash.
