New Corner For Stoughton's Corner Cafe

t's a new location and a new look for Stoughton's Corner Cafe.
Ed Wormald and his wife, Melanie Cobb, have relocated the restaurant to 945 Washington St. The had been located at 79 Canton St., but were approached about moving to the old Zachary's location. Zachary's is located down the road.
Both places have more room and more parking for the restaurants.
"We love it here," said Cobb. "It's bright and sunny. We are meeting new people. They heard about us."
On cue, a couple from New York visiting their daughter in Stoughton tells Cobb about how they found Corner Cafe and how much they like it.
"We thought we knew a lot of people in Stoughton," said Cobb. "When we started the restaurant, we met so many more people."
Ed Wormald is still behind the grille, doing what he loves to do...cook.
"That's his passion," said Cobb. "He was always cooking at home."
What Corner Cafe stresses is the freshness of their foods. Ed has to watch his sodium intake, according to his wife, and he takes that into consideration when he is cooking for his customers.
"We don't eat things out of a can at home," said Cobb. "This is home cooking. and not high in sodium."
With the switch, Corner Cafe has added cooks and waitresses to their staff. They had a soft opening Nov. 20 to allow the staff to work out any kinks.
"We have a new staff, but they are experienced," said Cobb. "We want to get everyone working with each other."
Family members also pitch in. One of the Wormald's children is Kenny Wormald, an actor and dancer, who appeared in the remake of "Footloose."
"He helped us clean the booths," said Cobb. "There was gum underneath. He told me that he used to come here and he was probably scraping off his friends' gum. "(Kenny) wants to work a shift, but we told him it wasn't like Manhattan when we would be working at midnight."
Speaking of hours, Corner Cafe is open, except for Mondays, for breakfast and lunch, at 6 a.m.
