Three Stoughton High Musicians to Perform at Southeastern District Honors Festival

Seniors Michael Silveira and Adam Elmowitz will perform with the District Jazz Ensemble, while Junior Daniel Block will be singing with the District Concert Choir.

The following is a press release from the Stoughton Public Schools Fine Arts Department:

musicians Michael Silveira, , and Daniel Block have been accepted to perform at the Southeastern District Honors Festival this coming January.

Silveira, playing saxophone, and Elmowitz, playing trumpet, will perform with the District Jazz Ensemble.

Block will be singing with the District Concert Choir.

Silveira and Elmowitz are seniors at Stoughton High. Block is a junior at SHS.

All three musicians went through a rigorous audition process in November. Because of their high audition scores, Silveira, Elmowitz and Block have received invitations to audition for the All-State Honors Festival, which features the best high school musicians from across Massachusetts.

SPS Fine Arts staff members Griffin Coombs and Daniel Davey are the music teachers at Stoughton High School.

The 2012 Southeastern District Honors Festival will be held on January 6 and 7 at Oliver Ames High School in Easton.
