Superintendent Rizzi: "Shocked, Saddened" to Hear of Tragic Death of Stoughton High Senior

Dr. Marguerite Rizzi, Superintendent of Stoughton Schools issued a statement in regards to the death of David Wade, a 17-year-old senior at Stoughton High. Wade died after being shot on Sept. 29.

The following is a statement from Dr. Marguerite Rizzi, Superintendent of the Stoughton Public Schools, in regards to the death of David Wade, a 17-year-old senior at Stoughton High.

Wade died after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest the afternoon of Sept. 29 at his Turnpike St. home.

Wade was a member of the SHS football team and a past member of the cheerleading team. He was also part of the indoor track team last winter.

I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic death of a Stoughton High School student [Saturday] evening. There is not much information available at this time, but my thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences go out to the family of the student, as well as his friends, and teammates.

An emergency meeting of the crisis team has been convened, and support and counseling services will be available for all the students and staff affected by this terrible event. We will pull together as a community to get through this. Our students can feel that they are safe, and will be safe in school.
