Stoughton Selectmen Show Support for New High School

Tours of the high school will be given Tuesday and Thursday.

Stoughton selectmen are throwing their support behind building a new high school.

"No building is more of a reflection on the town than the high school, " said selectman Thomas J. Recupero Tuesday, stressing the importance of doing the project. right. He was part of the group when the Massachusetts School Building Authority toured the high school. The other selectmen have toured the school  in the past.

Recupero said some parts he saw where an "embarrassment" to the students, and it was important to get behind the project along with the school committee to get the support for getting funds from the MSBAA for a new high school.

"They didn't come out and say it," said Recupero, "but they want a full 100-percent commitment."

School committee member Deborah Sovinee told the board that high school tours will be given Tuesday, Oct. 8, and Thursday, Oct. 10, from 6  p.m. 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. Residents are invited to attend.
