“The winning design is not only beautiful, but reinforces the importance of school libraries, which are dedicated to teaching literacy and critical 21st century skills to ensure the success of all students in all aspects of their lives,” Eleanor Rogers, Stoughton High Librarian wrote.

A ceremony for the winners was held at the State House in Boston in the Great Hall on March 26.  Rogers and SHS fine arts teacher Alyssa Dancey joined Liu at the ceremony.

This ceremony was part of the annual MSLA/MLA Legislation day where librarians meet with lawmakers to advocate for continued and increased support for the state’s libraries with special recognition for those who have been exceptional advocates for the cause, Rogers said.

This is not the first time Liu’s artwork has been recognized. Back in the summer of 2011, Lui, a National Honor Society student, had the winning entry in the annual contest to design the Stoughton Public Library’s Summer Reading Program t-shirt.
