Stoughton High Musicians to Perform at All-State Honors Festival

Adam Elmowitz, a senior at SHS, will be playing lead trumpet with the All-State Jazz Band. Dan Block, a junior at SHS, will be singing with the All-State Chorus.

musicians Adam Elmowitz and Dan Block have been accepted to perform with Massachusetts Music Educators Association All-State Honors Festival March 1-3.

Elmowitz, a senior at SHS, will be playing lead trumpet with the All-State Jazz Band. Block, a junior at SHS, will be singing with the All-State Chorus.

Elmowitz and Block went through two rigorous auditions to be accepted to All-State. Students accepted to perform at All-State are among the best high school musicians in the state of Massachusetts.

Elmowitz and Block were previously accepted to perform at the in January 2012.

Last summer, Elmowitz was also selected to take part in the for a 23-day concert tour, which included nine performances in six European countries.

SPS Fine Arts staff members Griffin Coombs, SHS Choir Director, and Daniel Davey, SHS Band Director, are Block and Elmowitz's music teachers.

The 2012 MMEA All-State Honors Festival Concert will be held at Boston’s Symphony Hall on Saturday March 3, 2012.
