Stoughton High Drama Department Off to See "The Wiz"

The Stoughton High Drama Department will be performing "The Wiz," a re-creation of the classic tale of the "Wizard of Oz," for its spring musical this year. Shows are Friday through Sunday, May 10, 11 and 12 at the SHS auditorium.

The Stoughton High drama department will be hosting its annual spring musical May 10-12 in the Stoughton High School auditorium.

This year's production is called "The Wiz," which is a re-creation of the classic tale of the "Wizard of Oz," but with some fun twists.

Show times are at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 10; 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 11; and 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 12. Tickets are $10 for general admission and $5 for students.

This prolific cast and a fantastic crew have been working countless hours to get this production ready.

These students include drama department presidents, seniors Olivia Quattrucci and Caroline Cusack, along with cast members Amber Ais, Matt Scabia, William Phillips, Dan Block, and Kristin Mauriello. Stage managers are Stoughton students, Courtney Lowell and Olivia MacDonald.

Dorothy will be played by Ais, Tinman by Scabia, Scarecrow by Phillips, the Cowardly Lion by Block and Glinda by Mauriello.

New characters Addapearl and Evilene will be played by the co-presidents themselves, Cusack and Quattrucci.

The musical is directed by Megan DeSimone, technical director is Kasey Sheehan, music director is Jessie Alling, and it is choreographed by Katie Monopoli.

Cusack talked about the hard work of everyone throughout this process in preparing for the production.

"We have all worked incredibly long hours [on] this show. The directors have also worked tirelessly and I cannot wait for you all to see it. These past four years have been amazing for me and I want to thank everyone that has helped along the way."

Quattrucci added, "I'm really proud of the entire cast and how hard they have worked, with all the difficulties we have over come together. I am going to be so sad leaving everyone at the end of this year." 

Quattrucci continued, "I also want to thank Caroline, my fellow president, for everything she does and all the hard work she puts in."
