South School Student Council Brings Holiday Cheer to Copley

Members of the South School's Student Council recently donated flowers to the Copley and sang holiday songs to the seniors there.

The Student Council turned a Thanksgiving fundraiser into some holiday time cheer for those at the nursing home in Stoughton.

The 14 members of the , walked from their Ash St. school to the Copley on Sumner St. last Thursday, Nov. 8, accompanied by the student council’s advisors and principal Maureen Mulvey.

The student council sold “Turkey Grams” in November and used the money raised (about $200) to purchase bouquets of flowers for the Copley.

The students placed a bouquet in each of the dining rooms at the facility and then sang “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” and “I Have a Little Dreidel” while the seniors were eating their lunch. They also made holiday posters to be put in some of the dining rooms.

“We thought that maybe the elderly people would think it’s a great surprise if we sang to them,” student council president Jeni D’Andrea said.
