School Department Announces Hiring of Next Stoughton High Principal

In an email to Stoughton School Committee members and to various media outlets, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marguerite Rizzi announced Friday afternoon that Juliette Miller will be the next principal of Stoughton High School.

Miller, a graduate of the , and a former math teacher at Stoughton High and director of mathematics at SHS, is set to become principal for the 2012-2013 school year. 

With O’Donnell Middle School principal Wayne Hester retiring at end of this school year and current Stoughton High principal Matthew Colantonio becoming principal at the OMS next school year, there was a vacancy in the top post at SHS.

Miller emerged from what started as a  for the position. Most recently, she held administrative positions at both King Phillip Regional and Apponequet Regional High School, where she has served as Assistant Principal, according to Dr. Rizzi.

"Ms. Miller emerged as the strongest candidate in a very accomplished field," Dr. Rizzi wrote in the email. "I am honored that she will be joining our Educational leadership team and look forward to working with her to build on the strong programs that we have to create a truly world class high school."

Dr. Rizzi continued, "She brings intelligence, poise, experience, and commitment to this job along with a deeply sound decision-making process."

Dr. Rizzi concluded her email saying she believed that "this will be the beginning of a long and happy relationship for Julie and the Stoughton Schools!"
