Photo Gallery: Gibbons Community Walks to School

Gibbons Elementary School students walked to school on Wednesday (Nov. 16), joining one of three "walking school buses" which transported the students to school on foot.

Many students and parents were seen holding closed umbrellas as they made their way up the driveway, the final leg of Wednesday’s “Walk to School Day” at the elementary school.

Fortunately the rain held off and the umbrellas were just precautionary accessories.

Principal Lynne Jardin was pleased with the event’s “great turnout”—about 200 students walked to school on Wednesday, joined by some of their teachers and parents.

Jardin said the event was a positive way to start to the day. She said walking to school offered students a chance to do something with their friends and the opportunity to take part in a physical activity.

The Gibbons School plans on having another in the spring.
