O'Donnell Middle School Crowns Champ in Annual Spelling Bee

The 53rd annual Stoughton Woman's Club Spelling Bee was held at the O'Donnell Middle School media center on March 21, with 45 students competing.

The 53rd Annual Stoughton Woman's Club Spelling Bee was held at the O'Donnell Middle School media center on March 21, 2013. Forty-five students, grade 6 through 8 competed for the coveted first prize. 

This year's Spelling Bee proved to be the longest one yet, as seventh graders Abe Korenblyum and Andrew Schlehuber went head-to-head and toe-to-toe.

In the end, Schlehuber prevailed as the winner, with Korenblyum coming in second. Schlehuber came in second place as a sixth grader last year.  

In third place this year, giving a stellar performance himself, was eighth grader, Conor Kavanagh.

Hallie Burak, sixth grade teacher, coordinated the event. This year's moderator was sixth grade teacher  Julie Linehan. Administrative assistant Patty LaCivita and guidance counselor Corrie Brookshire were the judges. 

Selectman Cynthia Walsh and Assistant Superintendent of Schools, Jonathan Ford were in attendance, as well some of the Stoughton Woman's Club members, and many parents.

Other student participants included sixth graders Emily Rose, Shannon Petrie, Heather Maddalena, Charles Nistad, Cyindia Goolcharan, Chuma Oyigbo, Madison Peck, Cian Swierzewski, David Korenblyum, Oliva Hoffman, Cesar McElaney, Victoria Fontes, Nicholas Szum and Ethan Emanuel; seventh graders Marcelo dosSantos, Sarina Hutchinson, Ronald Dessources, Ammari Harrison, Jacob Sigel, Amanda McGillicuddy, Jacob Duys, Jacob Glennon-Walsh, Obii Ihenacho, Andy Nguyen, Madison DeGrande and Tiffany Jones; and eighth graders Megan Reid, Jasmin Veerapen, Jonathan Julien, Kristalyn Selden, Brianna Ivaldi, Alexia Levy, Kyle Reis, Sophie Tamarkin, Harrison Leal, Kailee Mauriello, Aaron Edwards, Jordan Watson and Corey Ingemanson.
