Gibbons School Thanks Veterans

The elementary school held an assembly on Thursday in celebration of Veterans Day.

“November is the month to be thankful.  When you are remembering all of the things you are thankful for…Veteran’s should be at the top of the list.”

Thursday morning students, faculty and parents gathered to give thanks to the many men and women who have served, and continue to serve, our country, proudly.

Gibbons Music Director Paris Kampanelas, led the Veterans Day Program which featured many 5th grade students, including Kylie Pizzano and Valerie Tobin, who narrated the performance, and Sadie Homer who recited the poem, In Flanders Field

Rudolph Medeiros, one of the three honored guests from VFW Post 1645, raised the American Flag. Fifth grader Joshua Hough had a solo saxophone performance of TAPS.

Kampanelas exhibited her musical talent alongside 5th grade teacher, Eileen Sprague as they sang The Star Spangled Banner

The music continued with the students singing, America the Beautiful, This Land is Your Land, You’re a Grand Old Flag and the poignant You Are Our Heroes.

The program concluded with a presentation of thank you cards to the veterans to share with their fellow Stoughton veterans.
