Week in Review: New School Year Starts, ALICE Training, Zachary's Moves

Here are some of the stories that made news in Stoughton last week.
1. A New School Year Starts in Stoughton
Students went back to school Wednesday, while preschool started Monday and kindergarten starts Tuesday. Check out the entire calendar and the September lunch menus. 

2. ALICE School Shooter Response Training at Stoughton High
Dressed in protective gear, Stoughton school employees and Stoughton Police personnel recently received training in a more flexible way to respond to an active shooter situation in a school setting. ALICE - an acronym for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate - was developed by Greg Crane, a former SWAT police officer, and Lisa Crane a school principal. 

3. Stoughton Driver in Fatal Canton Crash that Killed Girlfriend Arraigned 
Sean Jackman is facing five to 20-years in state prison, a fine of up to $25,000 and potential lifetime revocation of his drivers license after being indicted on manslaughter charges for a crash that killed his 20-year-old girlfriend Evan Brand. He was arraigned in Superior Court in Dedham Wednesday.

4. Zachary's, Corner Cafe on the Move
Zachary's, a popular breakfast and lunch establishment, moved 1778 Washington St., in Planet Fitness Plaza and their old place will become the new home of Corner Cafe.

5. Stoughton Patch Changes Editors
Stoughton Patch said good-bye to its original editor Jeffrey Pickette, who left for a new position with Stoughton Cable, and hello to Mike Hardman, who is the new editor.
