Stoughton Housing Authority to Host Informational Open House

The Stoughton Housing Authority's board of commissioners will be hosting an informational open house, Saturday, Jan. 18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at 710 Turnpike St., regarding its planned purchase of the property.

With the purchase, they will be adding 20 units of additional elderly housing and rehabilitating the historic "Swan's Tavern" building to provide additional office and administrative space for the Stoughton Housing Authority.

You will be able to meet with executive director of the SHA, the board of commissioners, and the project architects, tour the property, see the architects' plans and hear about the proposed conversion of the former Solomon Schecter Day School into elderly housing and administrative.

The projects will be funded in part through the Community Preservation Act and will require town meeting approval for the CPA funding request and the necessary zoning changes for the SHA to own and operate elderly housing at this location.

Coffee, soda and light refreshments will be served. For additional informational or to arrange for transportation, contact executive director Greg Bartlett at the SHA at 781-344-6599 during normal business hours.
