Senate Approved Bill Includes Funds for Low Income Heating Assistance
Bill includes $20 million for heating assistance to address delays in funding following the federal government shutdown.

The Associated Press is reporting that the Massachusetts Senate approved a $94 million spending bill Thursday which includes additional funds to help low-income families pay for their winter heating bills, along with providing shelter for homeless families in hotels and motels across the state.
More than 90 percent of homeowners in the U.S. are expected to see higher heating expenses this year.

According to the report on WHDH.com, the Senate measure is similar to one approved on Wednesday by the House of Representatives. Negotiators from both chambers will meet to resolve any differences.
