Race's on for Stoughton Selectmen, School Committee Spots

There are only a few candidates for Stoughton Town Meeting Representatives. You can file papers until Feb. 18.

There will be contested races for the Stoughton Board of Selectmen and for the School Committee this April.

Selectmen Stephen G. Anastos didn't return his election papers, according to interim town manager James Kelley, leaving incumbent John M. Anzivino, the current chairman, facing off against Joseph M. Mokrisky and David J. Sousa for the two available spots.

Kelley said Dawn M. Reardon did return her papers, but didn't meet the required 120 signatures and may consider a write-in campaign.

Five candidates will be battling for two school committee slots. Current members George L. Dolinsky and Deborah J. Sovinee will be facing challenges from Mari-Kate Pina-Enokian, Joaqhin Soares and Randy J. Yanoff.

Howard Hansen is the candidate for town moderator, Michael F. Barrett, redevelopment authority, and Richard J. Jasmin, Jr. for housing authority.

Kelley said there are very few candidates for town meeting representative. Nomination papers are still available and can be turned until Feb. 18. It requires a minimum of 15 certified signatures.
