New Time, New Direction for Stoughton Christmas Parade

There will be a new-look to the annual Christmas Parade. Instead of being held in the afternoon, the parade is going to held under the lights with a different route on Dec. 7.

The parade will be start at the high school, kicking off at 4:30 p.m., moving up to Pearl Street, going through the center of town and ending at Halloran Park where there will be Santa Claus and Mrs. Santa Claus along with food vendors. Those taking part in the parade will start lining up at the high school at 2 p.m. It is expected to end at 9 p.m.

Selectmen gave their approval to the parade Tuesday night

"It's never been done before," said parade organizer David Sousa. "Anyone who has every been to Disney knows it's something to see."

With the changes in the parade, there will be fewer streets shutdown for the parade.

Sousa said the parade will be honor the First Responders and the survivors of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.

He also thanked the Stoughton Recreation Department, department of public works, police and fire department for their help in making changes to the parade route.
