Marijuana-Related Articles Pass at Stoughton Town Meeting
The articles focused on public consumption and a medical marijuana dispensary zoning bylaw.
Voters at Stoughton Town Meeting on Wednesday passed two articles related to marijuana consumption and a zoning bylaw for marijuana dispensaries in town, according to Organizing Against Substances in Stoughton.
Article 40 on the Town Warrant looked to see if the town would vote to amend Chapter 59, Article III to regarding the public consumption of marijuana, so that whoever may be found in violation of the law must show a true name and address to any official authorized to enforce the law. The Stoughton Board of Selectmen unanimously voted to support the article, while the Stoughton Finance Committee voted 13-1 to approve it, according to the warrant.
Article 42, meanwhile, sought to have the town vote to amend the zoning bylaw by deleting "Section M," which is titled "Temporary Moratorium on Medical Marijuana Treatment Centers," and instead title it "Medical Marijuana Treatment and Dispensing Facilities and Marijuana Cultivation Overlay District," according to the warrant.
