House Approves Minimum Wage Increase for Massachusetts

The bill would raise the minimum wage from $8 to $11 per hour by 2017.

The Massachusetts House of Representatives on Wednesday approved a bill to raise the state's minimum wage of $8 per hour to $11 per hour by 2017, NECN reported

Under Senate Bill 2195, the state's minimum wage would increase to $9 per hour by Jan. 1, 2015, then to $10 per hour by January 206 and $11 an hour in January 2017, according to NECN.

The political action group “Raise Up Massachusetts” has petitioned residents to raise the minimum wage, and the bill is expected to go to Gov. Deval Patrick
