Governor Nominates Associate Justice for Stoughton District Court

The following is by Joseph Markman of Patch:

Gov. Deval Patrick announced Tuesday that he nominated Milton resident Thomas L. Finigan as Associate Justice of the Stoughton District Court.

Finigan, Chief of the Narcotics Unit and a member of the Homicide Team at the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, joined the office as an Assistant District Attorney in 1997. He also spent five years as an associate at Choate, Hall & Stewart and five years as an investment attorney for The New England in Boston.

Finigan is a graduate of Boston College (B.S., 1982) and Boston College Law School (J.D., 1985).

If confirmed, Finigan will fill the vacancy on the Stoughton District Court created by the retirement of the Honorable Francis T. Crimmins, Jr., former presiding justice at Stoughton District Court, and former Stoughton Town Manager.

The Honorable Richard D. Savignano is the current presiding justice at Stoughton District Court, which serves the communities of Stoughton, Avon, Canton and Sharon.

In addition to Finigan's nomination, Patrick also nominated Swampscott resident Cesar A. Archilla as Associate Justice of the District Court, Circuit.

“I am honored to nominate these well qualified attorneys to serve on the District Court,” Patrick said in a statement. “They will bring to the bench valuable legal expertise and excellent judicial temperament. I thank them for their dedication to public service and their willingness to serve the Commonwealth as members of the judiciary.”
