The annual town election in Stoughton is set for next Tuesday, April 8, with candidates eyeing seats in two contested races.

Three candidates are running for two open seats on the Stoughton Board of Selectmen: Challengers David Sousa and Joe Mokrisky are running against incumbent John M. Anzivino, currently the board's chair.

Several candidates are also running a contested race for the Stoughton School Committee, on which two seats are currently open.

Incumbents George Dolinsky and Deborah Sovinee are running for re-election against challengers Randy Yanoff, Joaquin Soares, Jr. and Mari-Kate Pina-Enokian.

Stoughton Town Clerk Amy Summers said on Thursday she anticipates a voter turnout of about 15 percent.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

The town has spoken. Or at least the 16% of the town that cares enough to vote. No incumbent won. There is a reason for that. Perhaps if the incumbents had listened a bit more to what the people they represent were saying then they would still be in office. It is time to give some new people a chance. And to all of you that were unhappy with the results last night, there will be another election soon enough. Perhaps you can do what we parents in town did and ban together for the common good.

When is the next meeting of the teachers union, otherwise known as their lapdogs, bought and paid for, the Stoughton School Committee?

I understand Dr. Ural has posted a meeting for 6:00pm Monday, April 14th in the Fitzpatrick room at Town Hall for the purpose of reorganizing the School Committee. I do not know if he requested SMAC to bring the portable camera to record it as the Fitzpatrick Room is not set up for live broadcasts.

Odd that it would be done without notification to the rest of SC and administration and also not in high school studio where meetings typically are held.
