"We believe we have a person of interest in the case and the rest is under investigation," Devine said.

No additional suspect information has been released at this time. Devine also declined to comment if any of the parties involved in the shooting were residents of the apartment complex.

It is believed the shooting took place outside of building #404 at the apartment complex, following an argument inside the building, Det. Sgt. Robert Welch said.

"This is not a random act of violence as far as we believe," Devine said.

"Stoughton is a very livable and very safe town. Like any other place there are times when we do have issues that come up," Interim Town Manager Joseph Feaster added.

Welch, O'Connor, Det. Donna McNamara and Officer Jen Sullivan were on scene handling the investigation.

The scene was cleared shortly after 2 p.m.
