Man Robs Charity Thrift Shop on Route 138

The robbery happened as police were investigating a bomb threat elsewhere in Stoughton.

A man robbed the Chic 2 Charity thrift shop at 605 Washington St. Sunday night, according to Deputy Chief Robert Devine of the Stoughton Police Department.

The suspect grabbed a female employee as she was leaving the store at closing time, gestured as if he had a weapon, forced her back into the store and grabbed money, according to Devine.

Police tried to track the suspect down with a K9, but the search came up negative, and the matter remained under investigation as of Sunday night, the deputy chief said.

Devine said Stoughton police were responding to multiple incidents at the time of the robbery, and "that limited our resources."

At about the same time, police responded to Bob's Discount Furniture to investigate a bomb threat.

Chic 2 Charity is a thrift shop with "a boutique atmosphere," and its sales benefit a different non-profit organization every month, according to the store's Facebook page.
