Dumpster Fires at Four Stoughton Schools Early Monday Morning

The Stoughton Fire Department responded to dumpster fires at the Middle School, as well as the Dawe, Gibbons and South Schools early Monday morning. All four dumpster fires were confined to the respective dumpsters.

The Stoughton Fire Department responded to at four schools in Stoughton early Monday morning, according to Captain Douglas Campbell of the SFD.

Campbell said that the fires were set in dumpsters at the (211 Cushing St.), the (131 Pine St.), the (235 Morton St.), and at the (171 Ash St.), all within a span of just about two hours.

A dumpster at the OMS was set on fire at 4:25 a.m. on Monday, followed by dumpsters at the Dawe at 5:52 a.m., the Gibbons at 5:53 a.m., and at the South at 6:41 a.m.

Campbell said all the fires were confined to the respective dumpsters.

He said he would be “speculating at best” to say if any of the dumpster fires were related, or if there is a relation between these fires and the case of attempted arson at on Park St., which took place earlier Monday, around 4 a.m.
