responded to an early morning hostage situation on Washington Street Sunday.
WBZ reported that the suspect held a female acquaintance hostage with a gun from 1:00 a.m. until 5:00 a.m. Sunday.
The male suspect eventually turned himself into police, according to WBZ News.
The incident unfolded at 640 Washington Street.
“We set up a perimeter on the apartment building behind me here, and brought our negotiators in, and they talked the individual into surrendering himself, and he was taken into custody,” Deputy Chief Russell Jenkins told WBZ.
According to WBZ, the male suspect is wanted in connection with a shooting in Chelsea, Mass., and wanted on multiple charges in New York and California. Those charges include a parole violation for failing to register as a sex offender, WBZ reported.
No injuries were reported and a Braintree Fire Department dispatcher told Patch that the BFD did not respond to the scene.
Police were at 640 Washington St. this afternoon and were packing up their gear, according to a Patch photographer at the location. A K-9 unit was also on the scene behind the building.
