UPDATE: David Wade, 17, of Stoughton, Suffers Fatal Gunshot Wound to Chest

A 17-year-old male who was taken to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the chest Saturday afternoon in Stoughton later died, according to the Norfolk County District Attorney.

Stoughton Police and the Massachusetts State Police are investigating an incident at 779 Turnpike St. in Stoughton where , according to a statement from the Office of Norfolk County District Attorney Michael W. Morrissey

Stoughton Police and Fire responded to the call at a home on the corner of Turnpike Street. and Barnes Road. at 3:27 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29.

The victim was transported via ambulance to Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. MedFlight was not available, according to confirmed scanner reports.

The DA's office reported around 6 p.m. that the victim was "reportedly in surgery," but "lifesaving measures were unsuccessful and the victim of this shooting has passed away," according to a statment made just before 6:30 p.m.

Stoughton Police Executive Officer Robert Devine said that while police are still investigating the incident surrounding the shooting, "it's looking like it could be an accidental discharge."

DA Morrissey said the alleged shooter is Wade's 21-year-old brother.
