10-Year-Old Taken to Hospital Following Car Crash in Stoughton

A 10-year-old girl was transported to Children's Hospital in Boston after the car she was in crashed into a telephone pole on Pleasant Street in Stoughton Wednesday afternoon, Stoughton Fire Department Lt. Michael Carroll said.

The injuries are believed to be non life-threatening.

The car was traveling on Pleasant Street towards the center of town when it hit a telephone pole on the opposite side of the road around 2 p.m., Carroll said.

The crash occurred in the vicinity of 295 Pleasant St., and knocked out power in the area, Stoughton Police reported on Twitter. However, as of 4 p.m., National Grid was no longer reporting any outages in town.

Carroll said the pole stayed in place, but snapped when the car hit it. The driver was not injured, but the girl was wedged in the backseat, he said.

The Stoughton Fire Department transported the girl via ambulance. Carroll said she was conscious and alert when the SFD was on scene.
