Stoughton, MA Resident Designs Toys for Elephants

Stoughton resident Gia Manigat designed and construsted a Windy Wind-Chime and Archemedes Screw toy for two elephants at the Buttonwood Zoo in New Bedford as part of an interdisciplinary elective class for students at Massachusetts College of Art & Design (MassArt) in Boston.  The class, called “Toys for Elephants,” is now in its fourth year at MassArt in collaboration with non-profit organization Handshouse Studio and the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, MA. Manigat’s “toy” was donated to Emily and Ruth, two Asian Elephants at the Buttonwood Park Zoo in New Bedford, MA on Friday, May 9, 2014.
