Why would the school committee honor an extension of a contract that has 2 years and 10 months to extend to 3 years and 10 months. It doesn’t make any sense reasonably or logically.
Reason is governed by our interlect, experience and its deductive powers. It is the difference between right and wrong. Logic is another tool. It is the science of correct reasoning. The definition of wrong is not morally right or just.

1) Dr. Rizzi makes 173,000 dollars per year with her 2.5% increase each year.
2) With two years and 10 months to go her contract was extended another year with no reason from Dr. Rizzi.
3) Dr. Rizzi gave back to the town of Stoughton $780,000 that she overbudgeted for in the year 2013.
4) Three years ago Dr. Rizzi was voted no confidence by the teachers who work for her and the Union who represents the teachers who work for her.
I became frustrated because when someone wants an extra year added to their contract an analysis should take place to see if it is justified.
Dr. Rizzi refused to answer a direct question of why she wanted an extension. That is her right. Dr. Rizzi refused to answer this question stimulated by Dr. Rizzi asking for an extra year equal to $173,000 for her services forces people to deduce why Dr. Rizzi wants her contract extended.
Now this is conjecture on my part, I believe Dr. Rizzi is going to retire. I have no proof but her wants of this extension and my call to Mass Teachers Retirement seems to suggest that time and age comply with Dr. Rizzi’s extra year.
It is not the duty of this panel to grant to Dr. Rizzi her wishes. The duty of this panel is to make proper decisions for the people of Stoughton. This is what you took an oath to do. The Angels of Mercy who are the tax payers of Stoughton deserve no more, no less. You have a responsibility to them and only to them. They have given you charge of their children, a great responsibility I might add.
In the field of politics, the school committee’s job is to push for the facts until they get them. They can’t make correct determinations with partial or incoherent facts. Some people on the committee are so nice they cannot say no. There is a psychology in saying no. It takes intestinal fortitude to say no.
Dr. Rizzi gave back to the town of Stoughton $780,000. I have always given Dr. Rizzi a difficult time on her school budget as a Town Meeting Member. I’m always talking about the recession and how difficult it is for those people who are out of work and the Seniors of the town to make ends meet .
At the 2013 Town Meeting, I spoke about the three year recession and when the numbers go down 3 tenths of 1 percent the media is hailing the recession as almost over when 15% of the people are still out of work.
Dr. Rizzi is stating that she has $780,000 in monies she can’t use for various reasons. Reasons I have never heard of or possibilities that could occur. Yes, anyone can make a mistake but the school budget continues to go up with little sensitivity to a recession.
When the School Committee panel voted 4 to 1 in favor of Dr. Rizzi’s extension of her contract, I didn’t hear anything about her vote of no confidence by the teachers and the Union.
This leads me to believe that the teachers who work for her, if a vote were to be taken today would mean that this is a non problem.
I am confused. Did anyone on this board who was there then take the no confidence vote into consideration? Has anyone here who voted for Dr. Rizzi’s extension of her contract take that into consideration? Has anyone asked the Union who could verify if the no confidence vote still applies? What progress has Dr. Rizzi made to eradicate this no confidence problem?
I thought the open meeting with its transparency would address these issues. It did not.
