Letter: Lutz Family Thanks Community for Support After Daughter's Tragic Death

Editor's Note: Shayla Lutz, a three-year-old Stoughton girl, tragically passed away last September 14th shortly after she was hit by a box truck in front of the Hansen Elementary School on Central St. With the anniversary of Shayla's passing approaching, the following is a letter to the community from the Lutz Family:

***

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to give our deepest thanks to the community. Throughout the past year there have been so many of you who have left your marks on our hearts. There truly aren't words to express how much all of your love and support has touched us.

So many of you offered your condolences and reminded us often that Shayla will never be forgotten. The thoughtfulness of this town is truly amazing. There are far too many of you to offer our appreciation to individually. We are so grateful for your cards, flowers, dinners made for our family, every generous donation, the beautiful roadside memorial, the candlelight vigil, and every other thoughtful deed. Your love and support have been our strength.

We'd also like to give special thanks to the Farley Funeral Home, the faculty and PTO at the Hansen School, the members of The Little Theatre of Stoughton, and the James Wright Memorial Fund for truly caring for our family.

We will never forget the outpouring of love we received here in Stoughton. And it warms our hearts to know that so many of you will never forget Shayla.

Love and thanks to all of you,

The Lutz Family
