CORRUPTING SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION – PART 2

It seems, I am the only member of the Stoughton School Committee who thinks that superintendent Rizzi must improve her performance substantially. The rest of the members act as if superintendent Rizzi is performing exceptionally well.

I believe the most important role of a school committee is to evaluate the performance of the superintendent periodically, and identify areas that need improvement. Previously, I had written my opinion on how this process was compromised during the February 11, 2014 meeting of the Stoughton School Committee. You can find my original article at:

The next phase of this process unfolded during the 3/11/2014 meeting of the School Committee. My fellow committee members scheduled superintendent’s evaluation on a day I have to be out of state to receive an award.

Regular meetings of the Stoughton School Committee are held on second and fourth Tuesday of each month, so I plan to set those days aside.

Surprisingly, Stoughton School Committee picked an irregular meeting day to do the superintendent’s evaluation on which the only critic of the superintendent’s performance cannot be present.

I tried very hard to get the committee to pick another day for the superintendent evaluation, so I can be present. After all, I will only be out of state for 3 days.

Instead, my fellow school committee members say I can try to participate from New Orleans via telephone, if logistics permit. Recognizing the fact that I am not a native speaker, participating by telephone will certainly not be as good as being present at the meeting.
