ABOUT TOWN: Stoughton Youth Baseball Breakfast On Deck; Honoring Anne McCormick (And More…)

Welcome to "About Town with Mark Snyder," a column that will keep you up to the minute with what's what, who's who and what's going on around town. If you see or hear something we could use here, let us know by sending an e-mail to pmpco@aol.com.

YOUTH BASEBALL BREAKFAST: The annual Breakfast will be held at the Sons of Italy on Sunday, February 5, 2012 from 8:30–11 a.m.     

This will also be the last day for the spring registration so come on down, have some food and get registered. A late fee of $20 will be assessed to all that register after this date.  

The Major American League draft will be on February 15, 2012 at the on Wyman Street and will begin at 7 p.m. sharp!

The AA and Major National League Draft will be on February 28, 2012 at the Portuguese National Club on Wyman Street.

The AA draft will begin at 7pm and the Major National will begin at 8 p.m. Please be prepared to start on time.

for Stoughton Youth Baseball will be on April 14, 2012 at the V.F.W. Memorial Fields located on Elm Street.

HONORING ANNE MCCORMICK WITH LAUGHS: Last Saturday, January 28, a Benefit featuring comedians Paul Nardizzi and Linda Belt took place at in Stoughton with proceeds benefiting The Anne McCormick Scholarship Fund and St. James Youth Group Mission Trip.

The evening was fun AND for a good cause!

Betty Ann Gilroy did a fantastic job organizing the event, with the help of MaryAnne Caldwell, Youth Minister and Director of CCD at St. James. Dick and Eleanor Morris manned the refreshments, and Lee Elmowitz served as DJ.

Faces In The Crowd: Selectman John Anderson; Steve Dorgan and John Kearns of the Stoughton Public School's music department.

A fun time was had by all!

RYAN COURTS O'DONNELL MIDDLE SCHOOL CROWD: The following is contributed by OMS principal Wayne Hester - Mike Ryan, Communications Coordinator at the Jury Commissioner's office in Boston, visited the eighth grade students on Tuesday, January 31 to discuss the role of the judicial branch and jury system.

Mr. Ryan was a phenomenal speaker who the kids thoroughly enjoyed and truly gained an abundance of knowledge regarding the Massachusetts courts and jury system.
