ABOUT TOWN: Life Teen Baby Shower; Girl Scouts; Boy Scouts (And More...)

BABY ITEM DRIVE: Justin Braga of Life Teen at , tells About Town that this Sunday, September 25, they are holding a baby item drive to help benefit Friends of the Unborn in Quincy.  

There will be a baby shower to collect essential items for mothers and their babies!

Last year, Stoughton Life Teen raised $1,127.94 to help build wells in Africa for the Give It Away Now! Life Night. As a global Life Teen family, the group totaled over $200,000 which was enough to build and maintain 18 wells in Ghana.

This year, they want to stock the shelves of our local pregnancy resource center and help new and expecting mothers and their babies! 

Everyone is invited to drop off baby items in boxes at the entrances of Immaculate Conception Church on Sunday, September 25.

Feel free to attend the Life Teen Mass which will be celebrated at its usual time of 5:30 p.m.

Afterwards, at about 8:30 p.m., high school students are invited to continue the night downstairs in the church hall where we will have discussion about the dignity of human life and count the items that have been donated.

TRACK RENOVATION: Due to the weather, the will remain closed through September 30, 2011. It is undergoing an extensive renovation.

GIRL SCOUT CAR WASH: The Stoughton Girl Scouts will be holding a car wash on Saturday September 24 from 9 a.m. to noon at the  parking lot on Washington Street.

The 100th anniversary of Girl Scouts in the USA will be celebrated throughout 2012. The Stoughton Girl Scouts will be travelling to the anniversary sing-along on the National Mall in Washington D.C. in June. It is anticipated that approximately 200,000 Girl Scouts and Girl Guides from around the world will be at this event.

Funds raised will help to defray the cost of the trip for the girls.

BOY SCOUT YARD SALE: The Annual Boy Scout Troop 516 Yard Sale will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011, from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. at , 103 Pleasant Street in Stoughton.

Donations are welcome. Call 781-341-0278 to volunteer or to arrange pick up.

Parking is available behind the Church on Seaver Street. All proceeds will benefit Stoughton Boy Scout Troop 516.

REGIONAL EDITOR IS A MOM: Liz Taurasi Hughes, Senior Regional Editor for Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New Hampshire at AOL/Patch Media, is a mom!  

Cameron Louis Hughes arrived Thursday, Sept 22, 2011 at 12:48 p.m. 6.8 pounds, 19 inches. Everyone is doing wonderfully, according to Liz. Mazel Tov to Mr. and Mrs. Hughes!
