ABOUT TOWN: A Salute to Stoughton's Veterans - Parade Details, Reflagging Ceremony (And More...)

VETERANS DAY PARADE: The Annual Stoughton Veterans Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. sharp from VFW Post 1645 on Washington Street on Sunday, Nov. 11.
The parade will proceed through the square to the Stoughton Town Hall via Washington, School and Pearl Streets for a ceremony and wreath laying at the Memorial Bell.
The parade will then reform on Pearl Street and proceed back through the square to Faxon Veterans Memorial Park (across from the library near the Charles Large Gazebo) for two ceremonies at the two memorials there.

The parade will then proceed down Walnut Street to Washington Street and go back to the VFW for a collation.
The entire parade will be approximately one and one-half hours. Come and watch the wonderful results of the hard work of Veteran's Agent Mike Pazyra. It's a day to salute all of the brave men and women who have served in the military to protect this country.

Participants in the parade include local veterans, the VFW Color Guard and Firing Detail, the High School Band, the 12th MA Volunteer Infantry, the Police and Fire Departments, Town and State Officials, Scouts and more.

HONORING THE GRAVES OF STOUGHTON'S VETERANS: In preparation for Veterans Day this past Saturday, November 3, at the Holy Sepulcher and Evergreen Cemeteries in Stoughton, volunteers spent the late morning reflagging the graves of Stoughton's veterans. It is a time-honored tradition, which is led by Stoughton's Veterans Agent Mike Pazyra.
There were a number of families that participated in this wonderful and patriotic event.
Tattered and worn out flags are replaced with new flags. The volunteers, including many girl scouts, were all happy to cover the cemetery with crisp new red, white and blues, on a clear and chilly morning.
Refreshments were served at the VFW Post 1645 (837 Washington Street outside Stoughton Center) after the re-flagging was completed.

ATTENTION VETERANS! Stoughton Council on Aging presents a Veterans Appreciation Breakfast on Friday, Nov. 9 at 10 a.m. It will be at the Stoughton Senior Center, 110 Rockland Street.
If you are a Stoughton veteran, and would like to attend the complimentary breakfast, please make your reservations by calling 781-344-8882. Press 1 for the COA, and 1 again for the receptionist.
Veterans may bring one guest for a $3 charge. Feel free to bring any memorabilia and memories you might like to share!

ATTENTION VETERANS PART II: The Michael Romanuk VFW Post 1645 presents a dinner/dance in recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War, the 237th birthday of the United States Marine Corps and Veterans Day.
The fun will be on Saturday, Nov. 10. Cocktails will be served from 6-7 p.m. That will be followed by a roast beef buffet and dancing to Musical Rendezvous. A $15 Donation is requested. Tickets available at the VFW or through the Stoughton Veterans' Office.

TRASH TALK: On Monday, Nov. 12, there will be no curbside trash collection and recycling in observance of Veterans Day. Trash collection for Veterans Day will be scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 13, in addition to the regular Tuesday collection. This is standard procedure for any holiday.
All rubbish and recyclables must be curbside by 7 a.m . on your collection day. Please place recyclables apart from regular rubbish (stickers facing the street). No barrel over 30-gallon size will be emptied. Large household appliances (metal items) must be called into the Public Works for appointment for pickup. Call 781-344-2112 or 781-341-1300 X9312.
And, for your information, The Recycling Center at 100 Page Street, will no longer be open on Saturdays. Effective immediately, it will be PERMANENTLY open Sundays ONLY from 8 a.m to 5 p.m.
