Stoughton Obituary: Mark V. Ahearn

Mark V. Ahearn, age 60, of Stoughton, passed away July 1 after a long illness.

Mark V. Ahearn, age 60, of Stoughton, died, Monday, July 1, 2013 at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Joseph P. and Mary M. (Austin) Ahearn.

Mark is a 1971 graduate of Marian High School.

He worked as a Dairy manager for over 30 years for The Stop & Shop Companies, Inc. and assisted in the opening of several super stores including Temple St. and Cochituate Rd. in Framingham, Milford and Stoughton. He was also a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union.

A member of the Natick Lodge of Elks #1425 since 1977, he served as its Exalted Ruler in 1983. A lifelong lover of sports, Mark was very active in Natick youth sports including coaching youth Hockey and umpiring Little League and Babe Ruth.

He is survived by his siblings, Joseph P. and his wife Kathleen of Savoy, IL; Gerald F. of Edison, NJ; John “Jack” S. and his wife Nancy of Walpole; Gregory T. of Framingham; Daniel L. of Middlebury, VT; Christopher J. of Framingham; Gerard W. of Bolton; Paul A. and his wife Anita of Medway; Mary E. Saras and her husband Carl of Hopedale and Julie M. Scott and her husband Michael of Jefferson. He is also survived by 9 nieces, 9 nephews and 1 great-grand-niece.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday, July 5, from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the Norton Funeral Home, 53 Beech St., Framingham followed by his funeral Mass at 11 AM at St. Stephen Church, 221 Concord St., Rt. 126, Framingham. Burial will follow St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elks National Foundation, 2750 North Lakeview Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614-2256 or Make-A-Wish Foundation of MA, 1 Bullfinch Place, 2nd Floor, Boston, MA 02114.
