Stoughton Obituary: Leslie "Chip" Langer, Jr., 64

Leslie W. "Chip" Langer, Jr., 64, former Stoughton resident, and a current resident of East Bridgewater, died at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth on Sunday, August 25 surrounded by his family. 

He was the husband of Mary G. (Glover) Langer. 

Son of the late Leslie W. and Dorothy (Meek) Langer, he was born in Cambridge and raised in Stoughton. He was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1967.

Chip was a longtime resident of Stoughton before moving to East Bridgewater 7 years ago. 

He was a Machinist Mate 2nd Class in the U.S. Navy and a Veteran of the Vietnam War.

Chip was an elevator constructor and a member of the IUEC Local 4 in Boston for 40 years before retiring in 2011. 

He was a member of the Neighborhood Brigade and volunteered for Meals on Wheels, both in East Bridgewater. He also volunteered for the Abington Food Pantry and Homes for Troops. He was a greeter at the East Bridgewater Town Hall. 

He enjoyed reading, helping people in his community and especially spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, Chip is survived by his children, Heather McCarthy and her husband Tom of East Bridgewater and Peter Langer and his fiancé Veronica of Everett, as well as his grandchildren, Collin, Owen, Ronan, Corinne and Charlotte. 

He was the brother of Dorothy Stanlaske of Washington, Cheryl Morr of Illinois, William and Michael Langer both of Brockton, Theresa McCaffrey and Joseph Langer both of Stoughton and the late Margaret Marshall and Robert Langer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Thursday, August 29 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours Wednesday at the Farley Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. 

In lieu of flowers, donations in Chip's memory may be sent to the Abington Food Pantry, 455 Plymouth St., Abington, MA 02351 or New England Center for Homeless Veterans, Attn: Joshua Claudio, Advancement Office, 17 Court St., 3rd Fl., Boston, MA 02108.
