Stoughton Obituary: Jeanne (McCarthy) Rist

Jeanne (McCarthy) Rist of Stoughton, passed away Friday, July 12, 2013. She was 84.

Jeanne R. (McCarthy) Rist of Stoughton, passed away in Brockton at the Good Samaritan Medical Center on Friday, July 12, 2013.

She was the beloved wife of the late Henry D. Rist. She was the loving mother of Debra P. Baldovin and her husband Edward L. of Mansfield, and Susan E. Powers and her husband Kenneth F. of Middleboro.

Other survivors include her sisters, Alice M. O’Connor, Laura L. Jewett , Barbara F. Morrissey, all of Stoughton.

She was a loving grandmother to Sarah Neil and her husband Timothy, Jennifer Sousa and her husband Daniel, Lisa Collatos and her husband Nicholas, Amy Papagno and her husband Matthew, Jeffrey Powers and Christina Baldovin. She will also be missed by her two great-grandchildren, Alexandra Sousa and Audrey Neil, and many nieces and nephews.

She was sister to the late William E. McCarthy, John T. McCarthy, Michael J. McCarthy, Robert L. McCarthy and Gerald F. McCarthy.

Born June 29, 1929 in Jamaica Plain, she was the daughter of the late William E. and Beatrice L. (Robicheau) McCarthy. Jeanne was employed as a Sales Associate for many years with the former Jordan Marsh Company.

Her hobbies included puzzle-making, dollhouses and she was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Her love of family was of the utmost importance to her. She will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 16 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street, Stoughton.

Mrs. Rist’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 17 at 11 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Stoughton, 76 Pierce Street, with the Pastor Mary L. Perry, officiating. All are welcome to attend. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton. Flowers are welcome.
