Stoughton Obituary: Edward Francis Malloy

Edward Francis Malloy passed away July 5 at the age of 76. He was an active volunteer with the Stoughton Council on Aging.

Edward Francis Malloy, 76, of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Friday, July 5.

He was born in Somerville, son of the late Thomas Francis Malloy and Mary (Field) Malloy. He was the husband of the late Catherine (Donovan) Malloy, married for 35 years.

He was a graduate of St. Clement High School, Class of 1954 and Boston College, Class of 1958. He worked for the Social Security Administration for 35 years, working in Roxbury and Quincy and retiring as the district manager in Malden.

After retirement, he was chairman of the Council on Aging in Stoughton for a number of years and a Meals on Wheels driver for 15 years. Ed also served as a board member of Old Colony Elder Services for 12 years and on the building committee for the new Council on Aging building.

Ed was a Eucharistic minister at two nursing homes and McLean Hospital and for several homebound people. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Brockton.

An avid Red Sox fan, he was the proud owner of a limited edition 2004 World Series Red Sox chair, which he has bequeathed to his son. He was also a fan of Boston College sports.

Ed was a devoted father and enjoyed spending time with his family.

He is survived by his children, Thomas Malloy and his wife Suzanne of Hingham, Eileen Hiffa and her husband Joseph of Hanover and Kathryn Malloy of Stoughton; his grandchildren, Alexander, William and Ava Malloy and Mary and Madeline Hiffa; his brother John "Jack" Malloy and his wife Maraleta of Wilmington, Delaware; his sister Mary Ellen Jodice and her husband Paul of Medford; his brother-in-law, James Donahue of Middleboro. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Joan Donahue. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Tuesday, July 9 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Brockton at 10:30 a.m.

Visiting Hours Monday, July 8 from 5-8 p.m. at the Farley Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery, Stoughton.
