Stoughton Obituaries (November 5)

The following are obituaries for Stoughton residents or those with Stoughton ties for the week of October 28 - November 3.

Richard J. "Ricky" Toomey

Richard J. "Ricky" Toomey, 58, died from a long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease on Thursday, November 1.

Born in Boston on January 14, 1954, he was a longtime resident of Stoughton. He was educated in Stoughton schools and graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School, Class of 1972. Prior to his retirement he was a custodian for the Sharon Schools. He loved to help people and enjoyed his winter home in Florida.

He was a loving brother to Margaret "Peggy" Toomey and Kathleen "Kathy" Toomey both of Franklin and Joseph Toomey of Easton. He was predeceased by his father, Richard Toomey and his mother, Mary (Sugrue) Toomey. He was the uncle of Meaghan, Patrick and Brendon Toomey. He was the godson of Anthony Accettullo and Teresa Sugrue and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral was held from the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton on Saturday, November 3, followed by a Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church in Sharon. Interment took place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

Stephen F. Darcy

Stephen F. Darcy of Stoughton, formerly of Dorchester and South Boston, passed away October 27, 2012.

Beloved wife of Cecile (Miller) of Stoughton. Devoted father of Stephen F. Darcy, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Quincy and Robert P. Darcy of Stoughton. Loving grandfather of Caitlin, Taylor & Alexandra Darcy of Quincy.

Son of the late Charles & Elizabeth Darcy. Brother of Richard Darcy of Dorchester, Colleen Martarano of West Bridgewater, Kim Moran of Medway, Lisa Steele of Braintree, Chad Darcy & wife Marybeth of South Boston. Loving uncle of Chad Ryan, Brandon, Cameron & Matthew Darcy of South Boston. Also survived by many nephews, nieces, relatives & friends.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Stephen to Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.

George F. Holliday

George F. Holliday, 80, died Friday, October 26 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Katie (Cameron) Holliday.

Born in Medford, he was raised and educated in Stoughton. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Holliday worked as a truck driver for several area companies, including Caradonna's, Bird Shingle Company and the Corcoran Shoe Company. He retired many years ago. In his free time, he enjoyed reading and photography.

He was the brother of Audrey Osborn of Brockton and the late Diane Fisher. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Private family services were held. Donations in George's memory may be made to the Joslin Diabetes Clinic, 1 Joslin Place, Boston, MA 02115. Arrangements by Farley Funeral Home, Stoughton.

Mary A. (Johnston) Baglole

Mary A. (Johnston) Baglole, 89, a resident of Taunton, died peacefully at home on Monday, October 29 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Ernest A. Baglole.

Born and raised in Stoughton, she was a graduate of Stoughton High School, Class of 1942. She resided in Stoughton until 1986, when she moved to Taunton.

Mary was a manager at Anton's Cleaners in Easton for many years before retiring 15 years ago. She was a lifelong member of the First Congregational Church and a longtime member of The Wedded Ring at the church in Stoughton.

Known for her Thanksgiving dinner, she enjoyed cooking, entertaining, shopping, playing cards with friends, current events, the Red Sox and Celtics, Foxwoods, Bingo and especially spending time with her family.

Mrs. Baglole is survived by her children, Ann B. Eno and her husband Stephen of RI, Richard L. Baglole and his wife Marsha of Hanson and John S. Baglole and his wife Marcia Olson of Stoughton, as well as her grandchildren, Christopher and Allyson Eno, Julie Sheytanian, Jill Kain, Shannon, Erin and Alexander Baglole and her great-grandchildren, Kathryn Sheytanian, Braden and Lillianna Kain.

She was the sister of Lillian Lothrop of FL, Retha Robichau of Taunton and the late Susan Stoddard, Elizabeth Hadley and Robert Johnston. She is also survived by her foster brothers, Robert, William and James Fors, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service was held from the First Congregational Church in Stoughton, Friday, November 2. Interment took place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.
