The following are obituaries for Stoughton residents or those with Stoughton ties for the week of November 11-17.

Roy M. Swenson, Jr.

Roy M. Swenson, Jr., 77, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died unexpectedly November 15, at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. He was the devoted husband of 51 years to Diana M. (MacDonald) Swenson.

Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Dorchester. He was a Veteran of the US Marines Corps and served in the Marine Corps Reserve for over 20 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant. Roy worked for Boston Edison as a 2nd Class Fireman for over 34 years, retiring in 2000. He was a member of Utility Workers Union, Local 369, in Boston.

He was a Proud American and a Proud Marine. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, rooting for the Patriots and, above all, spending time with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving children: Scott M. Swenson of Easton; Thomas J. Swenson and his wife Pamela of Avon; Julie A. Giroux and her husband Richard, and Karen M. Swenson all of Stoughton.

He was the brother of Robert Swenson and his wife Janet of Braintree, Richard Swenson and his wife Jennie of Hanover and Barbara Ann Harrell of TX. He was the devoted grandfather of Thomas, Andrew, Daniel, Chloe, Zachary, Kaylyn, Katherine and Michael. He is also survived by many caring nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) in Stoughton on Monday, Nov. 19 at 8:45 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael's Church in Avon at 10 a.m. Visiting Hours will be Sunday, Nov. 18 from 2-6 p.m. Interment will take place at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton.

Hazel E. (Purdy) Green

Hazel E. (Purdy) Green, 95, died at Kindred Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Stoughton on Saturday, November 10. She was the wife of the late Harry E. Green.

Born and educated in Baltimore, MD, she was a resident of Stoughton for 52 years before moving to Attleboro for 9 years. She then moved to Westview Rest Home in East Bridgewater, where she lived for the past 10 years.

Mrs. Green was a homemaker. She was a longtime communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton and a member of the Stoughton Golden Agers. She enjoyed her morning coffee and muffin, reading and spending time with her family and friends.

Mrs. Green was the mother of Patricia A. Poirier of Attleboro, Michael J. Green of Stoughton and the late Sandra S. Hurley. She was the sister of the late Mamie Steigerwald and Regina Green. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Service was held from the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton on Thursday, November 15. Interment took place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.

David Patz

David Patz, of Framingham, formerly of Stoughton and Florida, died on November 10, 2012.  He was the beloved husband of the late Jean (Glazer) Patz, Ruth (Cohen) Patz & Rebecca (Miller) Hirschman. 

Loving father of Eleanor Holmes and her husband Thomas of Natick, and Beverly Skloff and her husband Ronald of Shrewsbury.  Cherished grandfather of Jeffrey, Bob, Jodi, Jeanne, Margi, Lloyd and Ina. He was also the great-grandfather of 15 and uncle to many nieces and nephews. 

Dear brother of the late George, Joseph and Bob Patz, Bessie Needle, Ida Grossman and Annie Karlsburg.

Services were held at the Schlossberg Solomon Memorial Chapel, in Canton on Monday, November 12.  Burial followed at Sharon Memorial Park in Sharon. 

In lieu of flowers, remembrances in his memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

Harold S. Swan

Harold S. Swan, 79, of Randolph, formerly of Stoughton, died Saturday, November 10 at the VA Medical Center in Brockton.

Son of the late Arthur and Gladys (Donovan) Swan, he was born on January 31, 1933 in Boston and attended Roxbury Memorial High School.

Mr. Swan was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for several years at S.S. Pierce in Boston, Woburn and Peabody and was a member of Teamsters Local 829 before retiring several years ago.

Mr. Swan is survived by a brother, Frederick Swan of Quincy, two sisters, Gloria Swan of South Boston and Catherine Trickett of Revere, a nephew, Paul Swan of Stamford, CT and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brothers, Richard and Everett Swan and his sisters, Hazel Van Buskirk and Elsie Swan.

Funeral Service was held from the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton on Thursday, November 15. Interment will took place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.
