Wladyslaw "Walter" Stasiewicz

Wladyslaw "Walter" Stasiewicz, 93, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Thursday, Feb. 14. He was the husband of the late Adele (Dadak) Stasiewicz.

He was born on April 21, 1919 in the small village of Knyszyn in former Eastern Poland. On April 13, 1940, Stasiewicz, his mother and brother were taken from their home and sent to Siberia by the Soviet Union. 

Stasiewicz and his older brother Edward took the opportunity to join the Polish Army in Kazakhstan. He was officially in the Polish Army from May of 1941 to February of 1948. Under General Anders, the 2nd Corps marched via the Persian Corridor into Iran and subsequently the Middle East. They eventually landed in Italy, where they played a role in capturing Monte Cassino during the Battle of Monte Cassino.

After World War II ended, Stasiewicz emigrated to England then to Argentina. In 1953 he came to the United States and settled in Stoughton.

Stasiewicz worked at Vulcan Shoe in Brockton for many years before retiring 20 years ago. He was a former member and secretary of the Polish White Eagle Club in Brockton.

In addition to his wife, Stasiewicz was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his nephew Marek and niece Maria Stasiewicz and their family as well as many cousins of the Kotlik family, Dembrowsky family and Dadak family.

Visitation will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 11 a.m. Interment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.

Ronald E. Piazza

Ronald E. Piazza, 75, died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013 at the BayPointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a short period of failing health. He was the husband of 53 years of Helen M. (Miranda) Piazza.

Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roslindale and attended Roslindale Schools. Piazza was a resident of Stoughton for 15 years, previously living in Holbrook for several years.

He worked as a contractor and was the owner of Columbus Builders for over 35 years. He retired five years ago.

Piazza was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Randolph and Roslindale and was a member of the 4th degree Knights. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing tomatoes and peppers. In his free time, he enjoyed snowmobiling and playing poker.

He is survived by his four daughters, Maria A. Eugley of Brockton, Laura A. Franklin of Randolph, Helenmarie Gorman of Avon and Rhonda L. Watts of SC. He was the brother of Elaine Piazza of Brockton, Raymond Piazza of Canton and the late Ettore Piazza. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours will be Tuesday, Feb. 19 from 4-8 p.m. Entombment will take place at St. Michael's Cemetery in Boston.

Dolores M. "Dee" (Ferzoco) Bourke

Dolores M. "Dee" (Ferzoco) Bourke, 62, a resident of Stoughton, died at home on Wednesday, Feb. 13 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of John M. Bourke.

Daughter of Eleanor D. (Renzi) Ferzoco of Roslindale and the late Anthony G. Ferzoco, Sr., she was born in Boston, raised in Roslindale and graduated from Girls Latin School and Boston State Teacher's College with a Master's Degree in Education.

She was a resident of Stoughton for the past 10 years and resided in Berkley for 13 years. Bourke taught in Boston for 34 years before retiring in 2009. She was a retired member of the Boston Teachers Union. She enjoyed walking, vacationing, cooking and spending time with her family. She was generous and unselfish with her time and talents.

Bourke is also survived by her sons, Bryan A. Bourke and Erick J. Bourke both of Stoughton, as well as her grandson, Owen D. Bourke. She was the sister of Dennis and Judi Ferzoco, Mary Ann Ferzoco, Ellie Murphy, Anthony, Jr. and Joan Ferzoco all of Stoughton, Barbara and Joe Menendez of Norwood, Lorraine and Joe DeCristofaro of Canton, Paul and Nancy Ferzoco of Falmouth, Edward and Linda Ferzoco of W. Roxbury, Jimmy and Annie Ferzoco and Gerard and Debra Ferzoco all of Roslindale, David and Sue Ferzoco of W. Newton, Carolyn and Kevin Sheehan, Gregory Ferzoco and Michael Ferzoco all of Boston, Gary Ferzoco of Winthrop and Nancy and Dan Trodden of Weston.

She was the step-mother of Debbie and Gary Goyer and Charmaine and Richard Schaeffer all of NY, Carol and Ed Hetzel of PA. She was the godmother of Jimmy Ferzoco and Kayla Murphy both of Stoughton and is also survived by over 50 nieces and nephews.

Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt.27) in Stoughton on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church Stoughton at 8:30 a.m. Visiting Hours Monday, Feb. 18 from 3-7 p.m. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Antoinette Edna (DiGiacomo) Hern

Antoinette Edna (DiGiacomo) Hern, 99, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at Brockton Hospital on Friday, Feb. 8. She was the loving wife of the late Herbert E. Hern.

Born in Dedham, she was a resident of Stoughton for over 75 years. Antoinette was the daughter of Angelina DiUnci and Ettore DiGiacomo of Rome, Italy.

Hern was a devoted homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Stoughton Women's Club and a longtime volunteer at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. She was a voracious reader and avid Yankees fan, who enjoyed crossword puzzles, traveling and dining out.

She was the mother of five children and the sister of the late Eugenia Gitto and the aunt of Louis Gitto of Stoughton. She loved spending time with the lights of her life, Alicia Calef and Joseph Bottini as well as Beverly Bottini and husband Jack and Herbert Hern and wife Sandy.

Services were privately held.
