Stoughton Obituaries (December 16)

The following are obituaries for Stoughton residents or those with Stoughton ties for the week of December 9-15.

Jeanne M. (Russell) Baeta

Jeanne M. (Russell) Baeta, a lifelong resident of Stoughton passed away on Monday December 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton. She was 81-years-old and the beloved wife of the late Louis J. Baeta.

She is survived by her three sons, Donald L. Baeta of Taunton, Ronald L. Baeta of Stoughton and Thomas L. Baeta also of Stoughton.

Other survivors include her two grandchildren Thomas J. Baeta and Heather Lynne Baeta both of Stoughton, her two sisters, Sally Coelho and her husband Russell of Port Jervis, New York and Nancy Deeb and her late husband Robert of Mansfield. She is also survived by her daughter in law Lynne Baeta and many nieces and nephews. Jeanne was also a sister to the late Lawrence Russell, John Russell, Thomas Russell and James Russell.

Born February 6, 1931 in North Easton, Massachusetts, Jeanne was a loving daughter to the late Ruth (Travers) and Lawrence Russell. She attended Stoughton Public Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Stoughton High School.

She was employed as a Teachers Aide for many years in the Stoughton Public School System and was also employed for several years as a Lab Technician at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Her hobbies included bingo and gardening. She was also an avid sports fan of all the Boston teams. She had a special bond with her two grandchildren. They will miss her passionate ritual of cooking fried dough on Sunday’s.

Her funeral was held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from the Sheehan Funeral Home in Stoughton, followed by a Mass Of Christian Burial at St. James Church in Stoughton. Burial was at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Stoughton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 1115 West Chestnut Street, Brockton,MA 02301 in Jeanne’s memory, would be appreciated.

William F. McLaughlin

William F. McLaughlin, 86, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. He was the husband of the late Anna "Joan" (Sugrue) McLaughlin.

Born in Boston, he was raised and educated in Roxbury and attended Boston Trade School. Mr. McLaughlin was a Veteran of World War II of the Navy Seabees. He was a resident of Stoughton for over 57 years.

Mr. McLaughlin was a member of Local 4 Heavy Equipment Operators in Boston and Medway for many years. He worked for Baker Paving for over 30 years and then worked for Todesca Corporation for over 10 years. He retired over 21 years ago.

He was the founder and manager of the Golden Rays Drum & Bugle Corps in Stoughton in the 1960's & 70's. He also was the founder of All Town Taxi in Stoughton.

He was a former member of the Stoughton Irish American Society, the American Legion and VFW all in Stoughton. He was a Jack-of-all-trades who enjoyed working on cars and spending time with his family in his free time.

He is survived by his children Daniel R. "Dinny" McLaughlin and his wife Kathy and William F. McLaughlin and his wife Ayapina all of Stoughton and Anne Marie Fuoco of Wareham. He is survived by his 8 grandsons, Paul, Christopher, Patrick, Billy, Michael, Kevin, Robert and Chaiwat and 7 great grandsons and 3 great granddaughters. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Myrtle (Clark) McLaughlin and 8 brothers and sisters. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral was held from the Farley Funeral Home, in Stoughton on Saturday, December 15, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. James Church in Stoughton. Interment took place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Stoughton.

James Owen Dollard, Jr.

James Owen Dollard, Jr. of Stoughton, formerly of Dorchester, passed away unexpectedly on December 11, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.

He was 47-years-old and the beloved husband of Susan M. (Reynolds) Dollard. Jim was also the cherished father to Nicholas J. and Kenneth J. Dollard of Stoughton and a loving son to James O. Dollard Sr. and Ruth (Stappen) Dollard also of Stoughton.

Other survivors include his brother Danny Dollard and his wife Donna of Bridgewater, his two nieces Taylor and Amanda Dollard and his nephew Jacob Reynolds. He was also a brother in law to Richard Reynolds, Brian Reynolds and Christine Reynolds.

Mr. Dollard was born on November 6, 1965 in Boston, Massachusetts. He attended Boston Technical High School and graduated in 1984. He was employed for over 28 years as a Planner for the Joseph Pollak Auto Manufacturing Company in Canton.

Jim was an avid Boston Bruins hockey fan. He also enjoyed watching football on Sunday’s with his wife Susan and watching the Boston Red Sox. His other interests and hobbies included NASCAR and driver Tony Stewart, listening to various types of music, especially the Rock Band Pearl Jam and playing video games with his family. He will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 at the Sheehan Funeral Home, 115 Monk Street in Stoughton. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Stoughton Food Pantry, 103 Pleasant Street, Stoughton, MA 02072 in Jim’s memory, would be appreciated.

Grace E. Mann

Grace E. Mann, 72, a longtime resident of Brockton, died unexpectedly at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Wednesday, December 5.

Daughter of Alfred W. Mann and Lorraine Walraven of Stoughton, both deceased. She was born in Boston and raised in Milton and Mattapan before moving to Stoughton. She was a graduate of Stoughton High School and received an advanced college degree.

Grace worked for Cambridge Cares for AIDS and recently retired from the Department of Public Health, Commonwealth of Massachusetts.

Grace was the sister of Mary Louise Mann of San Francisco, CA, Elaine C. Rapp of Seabrook, NH, Heidi Powers of Hanson, Louise Mann and Joyce Treml both of WI and the late Philip H. Mann of Stoughton. She is also survived by 5 nephews, 1 niece and several cousins.

Arrangements were handled by the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton.
