The following are obituaries for Stoughton residents or those with Stoughton ties for the week of August 19-25: Wayne P. Rupp; Eleanor (Wood) Freeman; Jose Dennis Medeiros; Myron Freedman; and Freda (Shality) Dovner.

Wayne P. Rupp

Wayne P. Rupp, 60, a resident of Stoughton for the past 45 years, died August 20, 2012.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of Theresa (Roy) Parshley of Stoughton and the late Paul Rupp and served in the U.S. Navy.

After suffering from a stroke, his wife Jean had been taking care of him for the past 17 years.

Wayne was dedicated to raising his three sons. He was well known for his local landscaping company and his extremely hard working personality. He was a past Vice President of the Stoughton Chambers of Commerce and Co-founder for project “Stoughton Cares” during the Gulf War.

Wayne was the beloved husband of Jean M. (Rozenas) Rupp; loving father of Brian Rupp of Brockton, Glenn Rupp of Stoughton and Jeffrey Rupp of Brockton; dear brother of Gail Nelson of CA, Mark Rupp of Hawaii, Deborah Irions of OK, Paul Rupp of Braintree, Robin Killeen of Alaska and Denise Mackie of MS; nephew of Doris Emery of FL and an uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Funeral was held Saturday, August 25 at the Waitt Funeral Home in Brockton.

Eleanor (Wood) Freeman

Eleanor (Wood) Freeman, 80, a resident of Taunton, and former longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at Brockton Hospital on August 22, 2012 surrounded by her family. She was the wife of the late Paul W. Freeman.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Hyde Park and graduated from Hyde Park High School, Class of 1950. She was a resident of Taunton for 8 years after living in Stoughton for 48 years.

Mrs. Freeman was a manager at Anton's Cleaners in Easton and Canton for 18 years before retiring 15 years ago. She was a great lover of books and read voraciously. She loved to travel and dine out. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mrs. Freeman is survived by her children, Donna M. Freeman of Bridgewater, Debra J. LeBlanc and her husband Wayne of Norton, Gail A. O'Malley and her husband Raymond of Dennisport, Nancy E. Senna and her husband Don of Easton, Paul W. Freeman, Jr. of W. Bridgewater, Daniel E. Freeman of Brockton and John H. Freeman of Taunton. She was the sister of the late Martha Glynn and Carol Savoy. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) in Stoughton on Monday, August 27 at 10:30 a.m. Visiting Hours will be Sunday, August 26 from 3-7 p.m. at the Farley Funeral Home. Interment will take place at Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Jose Dennis Medeiros

Jose Dennis Medeiros, 64, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton on Wednesday, August 22.

He was the husband of Maria N. (Garcia) Medeiros. Born and raised in Flores, Azores, Portugal, he resided in Stoughton for 36 years.

Mr. Medeiros was a construction worker in the area for 20 years before becoming disabled from Machado Joseph's Disease 16 years ago. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Medeiros is survived by his children, Paul R. Medeiros and his wife Nancy of Stoughton and Anabela M. Collins and her husband Michael F. of Brockton, as well as his grandchildren, Mitchell F. and Madison R. Collins and Paul T. Medeiros.

He was the brother of Luciano Medeiros of Falmouth, Walter Medeiros of Middleboro, Fernando Medeiros of Stoughton, Fernanda Pinto of FL, Adriana Shaw of Westport and the late Maria Tina Monahan and Isabel Luis. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral was held from the Farley Funeral Home in Stoughton Saturday, August 25, followed by a Funeral Mass at the Immaculate Conception Church in Stoughton. Interment took place at Evergreen Cemetery in Stoughton.

Myron Freedman

Myron Freedman, of Stoughton, died August 19, 2012 at the age of 85.

He was the beloved husband of Natalie (Gott) Freedman. Devoted father of Laura Miller & her husband Dennis of CT and Dr. Steven Freedman & his wife Ann of Chestnut Hill. Loving brother of Isabelle Friedberg of NH. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer Hocherman and Brianna Bright. Dear great grandfather of Aviva Hocherman.

Services were held at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel in Canton on Wednesday, August 22. Interment was at the Jewish Community Center Cemetery in Danvers.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to The Pancreas Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.

Freda (Shality) Dovner

Freda (Shality) Dovner, of Stoughton, formerly of Taunton, died August 21, 2012 at the age of 93.

Beloved wife of the late Harold Dovner. Devoted mother of Joyce Schmidt & her husband Ivan of Niantic, CT and David Dovner & his wife Susan of Sharon. Loving sister of Eunice Moffett of Cooperstown, NY. Cherished grandmother of five and adored great grandmother of two.

Services were held at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapels in Canton on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at noon. Interment was at Plymouth Rock Cemetery in Brockton.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Old Colony Hospice, 1 Credit Union Way, Randolph, MA 02368 or to the American Diabetes Association , Massachusetts Chapter, 10 Speen Street, 2nd Floor, Framingham, Massachusetts 01701.
