Obituary: Rita L. (Sousa) Grant–Stoughton Native, SPD Traffic Supervisor

Services will be held on Friday evening in Stoughton.

Rita L. (Sousa) Grant, 89, died Sunday, April 6, 2014, at the West Acres Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Charles Grant. 

Born in Boston, she was raised and educated in Stoughton and a graduate of Stoughton Schools. She was a lifelong resident of Stoughton and also graduated from nursing schools. Mrs. Grant worked for many years as a traffic supervisor and matron for the Stoughton Police Department before going into nursing. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Braemoor Nursing Home in Brockton for many years, retiring at age 72. In her free time, she enjoyed arts and crafts but most of all she loved and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by her four daughters, Sandra A. Grover, Brenda A. Sousa-Catalano, Linda L. LaFleur and Debra J. Belyea all of Stoughton. She was the sister of Edward J. Wilson of Mansfield. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. She was the former wife of the late John P. Sousa. 

Memorial Services will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rte. 27) in Stoughton on Friday, April 11 at 7 p.m.
